What is FuelGuard?

Guardian Fueling Technologies created FuelGuard in order to fix the problems caused by today’s fuels. As regulatory requirements continuously aim to decrease tailpipe emissions and increase the consumption of homegrown ethanol and biodiesel. The chemistry of traditional fuels is changing. Well-intentioned policies associated with “improving” today’s fuels have actually reduced stability and increased contamination, causing extensive damage and costs to businesses relying on petroleum to operate. FuelGuard is your solution to ensuring your business isn’t impacted by poor fuel quality.

Operating throughout Guardian’s service area in the southeast United States, FuelGuard has fully trained and certified petroleum service technicians on staff. Prior to initiating any site activity, our technicians will establish a safe work zone and complete a Safety Evaluation of the area, equipment, and scope of work. Next, we will inspect your pump and tank system to look for common indicators of contamination, such as corrosion or water accumulation. After the exterior assessment of your equipment, the fuel will be sampled and tested. Upon understanding the state of fuel quality, the cleaning process begins. Chemical additives are used in conjunction with multi-stage filtration in order to remove particulate and water, and restore fuel to its original condition. Our technicians continue this process until the fuel is cleaned and your system fully operational.

Unfortunately, more changes to the chemistry of fuel are coming. Ethanol concentrations are slated to increase from 10% to 15%. There are also discussions of increasing biodiesel concentration from 5% blends to 20% blend in diesel fuel. This means that fuel is increasingly susceptible to contamination, an unavoidable reality of working with today’s fuels. Whether your business sells petroleum or uses it as part of the foundation for you operations, you have a decision to make. Do you wait until your fuel contamination is so bad that it damages equipment and hurts your operations, or do you get a head start and implement a program to manage contamination before it begins? What’s your Fuel Quality Plan?
